ACOG : “A Lesson from the Stormwater Fairy”
How do you make a bullet-point checklist about stormwater drains interesting? How about creating a Hanna-Barbera-meets-Ren & Stimpy animated character to educate the public? With amazing art from Dave Curd, flawless animation from Digital DK and note-perfect audio by Soundscapes, this was a charmed production.
ACOG : “Dave’s Square”
Educational fun on a low budget. Simon Hurst shot funnyman Brian Ross in studio and once again Digital DK and Soundscapes brought the production magic. If I were to do it again, the only thing I would change would be to Photoshop the sweat patches from Brian’s shirt (it was a warm studio).
EMC : “Ice”
I’m particularly proud of this spot not just because it won my first Special Judges Fontana Award for Humor in 2006, but because, as a 34 year old male, I somehow was able to create (with director Derek Doublin, animator Digital DK and audio from Soundscapes) a TV spot about menopause that, for a brief time, actually had watercooler buzz. It’s the first time anyone had asked me “Have you seen that spot?” about one that I’d produced.
GLOBALHEALTH :
“All Around Oklahoma”
This fun spot for GlobalHealth was a good excuse to cast my pal, bespectacled juggler Tim Fall, as well as a couple of cute kids who worked for pizza and the promise of Nintendo Wii once they got home. Another Digital DK/Lucky Dog Audio collaboration (with set photography by Simon Hurst).
HORNETS : “Back in OKC”
All I did was write the script and direct the audio with Soundscapes. Steve at Digital DK did the heavy lifting — sorting through endless Hornets game footage to create an action-packed edit.
OBI : “Pied Piper”
The great director David Stepp called this script “Best of Show” material. The ADDY judges that year didn’t quite agree, but it wound up giving Kaylee Rayburn the status of brand icon for OBI for over 4 years. I also was lucky enough to get “The World Ain’t Slowin’ Down” by the amazing Ellis Paul as the campaign soundtrack for the entire run.
REDHAWKS :
“Under the Lights”
We shot this with Digital DK until 3:00am on the coldest, windiest night of March, 2006. It was a lot of hard work, but tons of fun, and the adrenalized soundtrack by Lucky Dog Audio brought it to amazing life.
REDHAWKS :
“Catch a Dream”
The RedHawks wanted ‘Field of Dreams’ so David Stepp shot a :30, near wordless mini-movie to illustrate the journey of a child’s major league dream — ably abetted by Lucky Dog & Digital DK.
REGENTS : GEAR UP
Digital DK shot five spots (one in Spanish) over a 13-hour Saturday at Putnam City West high school — a punishing production that resulted in a great campaign for one of my favorite clients.
UNITED WAY :
“My Community, My Investment”
(Director’s Cut)
Yeah, this one got me in a bit of trouble. We never meant for the “gerbil” line to make the final cut in the outtakes, but it did — for a little bit. Digital DK did a great job with the shoot & edit and I’m extra proud of the original song red dirt musicians Travis Linville & Dameon Allensworth recorded specifically for the campaign.
